Who Should Do Keyword Research?

Proper keyword research and search engine optimization allows a person to do the work of website promotion once and gain long lasting benefits from the effort. Once your website has been properly optimized for your researched keywords and has gained a favorable position in the search engines, a minimal amount of effort is required to keep it there. That is why so many online entrepreneurs have made keyword research and search engine optimization such a fundamental part of their overall online business strategy.

There are some business models that rely more heavily on keyword research than others. Having said that, the vast majority of online business models have some basis around the keyword research process.

For instance, people who typically build sniper sites are very keyword focused in the creation of their sites. That is because the main goal of building such a site is to rank high in the Google search engine and reap the benefits of organic search engine traffic. People who build these types of sites typically will target one product related keyword to build their website around, will optimize their website to a 100% on page SEO score, and will then work their back linking magic until their website has reached the desired placement on Google's first page. They will then continue on to building their next site in the same fashion.

The same can be said for people who build mini-niche and mini-authority websites. Such people will typically focus on a handful of keywords, usually one for each page of the website, and will try to rank each page as highly as they can in the search engines for that page's keyword.

Alternatively, people who own popular blogs which have already gone viral and require little promotion on the blog owners side of things tend to focus less on keyword research and web page optimization and focus more so on writing content for their human readers. Since their blog is already at an authority level with regularly updated content, it will easily rank for a variety of search terms without the need for heavy search engine optimization or traditional outside website promotion techniques.

Having said that, newer blogs can greatly benefit from keyword research and search engine optimization. The more targeted traffic that can be directed towards a new blog, the more subscribers and readers that the blog will get, the faster that it will go viral, thusly almost eliminating the blog owners need to do any type of outside website promotion.

People who follow the rules of proper keyword research and search engine optimization are generally the "work smarter, not harder" types, realizing that the benefits of well optimized web pages based around strong keywords can have a longer lasting monetarily productive result than other methods of website promotions.
